Delaware Shakespeare Festival

Opportunities for Teachers

We're here to help you teach your students about Shakespeare

Have DSF come to your Classroom

With our "Shakespeare - Then, Now and Always" program, a scholar/actor visits the classroom to break down students’ inhibitions about Shakespeare. In-class exercises help students overcome the language difficulties and make the text approachable. Group scene-work then allows the students to practice putting their understanding of the script into action in a mini-scene for the rest of the class. The class ends with a question and answer session with the actor.

Delaware Humanities Forum will sponsor the first 10 schools to register for the seminar.

Bring Your Students to the Festival

If you have a group of enthusiastic students, we have the perfect summertime entertainment option. For only $8 per student, your class receives:

  • School and class recognition from the stage
  • Early admission 20 minutes prior to the gates opening.
  • A $2 discount for each student off the $10 general admission fee.

Classes must consist of at least 15 students. Please contact our Group Sales coordinator for more information, by clicking here and filling out this form.

The Delaware Shakespeare Festival is an annual theatrical event celebrating the works of Shakespeare through professional outdoor performances. Begun in 2003, the Festival has grown each year by entertaining and enlightening enthusiastic crowds who enjoy picnicking while taking in the performance. The Festival is an ideal way to introduce youngsters to the classics, or for adults to reacquaint with these classic works of literature.
